This video appeared on my Facebook newsfeed by a former high school classmate who is a friend to this beautiful new girl on the block NöNe. “Miss Celie” is definitely a great anthem for the ballroom kids. NöNe pays homage to the Academy Award Winning film The Color Purple’s lead character Miss Celie and memorable scene when Harpo sought advice from her on how to handle his no-nonsense wife Sophia. She namedrops fave makeup brands Covergirl, Bobbi Brown, and Clinique.
I can definitely see this song being used for the promos of Logo Tv’s Rupaul’s Drag Race!

If there is something I can’t stand when new female rappers come out, critics always have to compare them to one another on some catty ish. Clearly, after listening to Azealia Banks’ “212″, that she is no Nicki Minaj nor does she wants to be. In fact, she is a power house all by herself. On his DJing tour, Kanye West (alias DJ Ye World Peace), bumped the track on his 1 and 2s and it is rumored that he signed Banks to his label G.O.O.D. Music. Banks have been placed on BBC’s 2012 Ones to Watch List and is booked to perform at the upcoming Coachella concert festival. Fans are truly in for a treat.

This is officially my last post for 2011. I did not know what to say for my last post because I already talked about my top moments of 2011 for my blogiversary post. I will have to say that this year brought many changes in myself as far as having more self-confidence and be more assertive when tough situations arose in my life. I learned to keep on moving and make things better. I got to meet the people I looked up to as well as coming across new important people. I have so many plans for 2012 and pray that I will be able to accomplish every goal I have set and written down. Whatever challenges that come my way, I have to deal with them as they may come. I look forward to see the new sunrise through my window on January 1, 2012. I wish all my fans and readers a very Happy New Year!

TVOne’s UnSung has finally caught the attention of many music lovers in the black community. After four successful seasons and countless fans giving out suggestions of which artist to cover, the documentary is returning with a Season 5 on January and the line up for this year is incredible. For those who have not caught on to this show and often see their Twitter time-lines buzzing about the episodes, “TV One’s signature music biography series sheds much-do light on some of the most influential, talented and yet, somehow forgotten R&B, Soul and Gospel artists of the last 30 years. While Aretha, Whitney, Diana, Stevie, Marvin and the Winans have been recognized over and over again-there are several artists like Phyllis Hyman and The Clark Sisters who haven’t been as honored.” Continue Reading

My goal for 2012 is to collect more fashion magazines and save them for the massive library of my dream house (or luxury apartment) that I will live in once my recession is over. Photographers Sebastian Faena & Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele captured Hip Hop’s Golden Era moments in the January 2012 issue of V Magazine. Supermodels Anais Mali, Rob Evans, Travone Hill, and Chrishell Stubbs were donned out in Adidas and Gold rope chains along with being accessorized with fanny packs, high top fade haircuts, and boomboxes…that all defined the hip hop and urban culture.
